REFLECTIONS OF A FRAGMENTED SELF
Series shot on Portra 400
WHO AM I WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING
Struggling With Identity As a Woman
Women internalize & absorb several hidden messages that our value & worth is determined by our appearance, which must pass a test rooted in white supremacy, western beauty ideals, and a disregard for the woman as her own individual being. In this series, I photograph a woman in action at times, and at times reflecting on her own reflection, questioning herself and her priorities, searching for a meaning beyond the mirror. Able to acknowledge the drilled in desire to appeal to these beauty standards, yet rebel against it in search of something that will subjectify her and make her whole.
